TURN TO THE LIGHT: Your Romans Road witnessing tool.
John 8:12 "Once more Jesus addressed the crowd, He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life."
Following Christ involves more than a prayer. It is a life changing decision that should be backed up with our actions. As Christians (followers of Christ), we are obligated through God's Word to tell others about Jesus. Witnessing to others isn't always an easy task. The Bible provides us with several Scriptures that lead to sharing the Truth. Following is a group of Scriptures often referred to as "Roman's Road". It is often used to lead people to the saving knowledge of Christ. For your benefit, we have included some additional wording to assist you in your endeavor of leading others to Salvation as a Follower of Christ.
You can start by asking, "If you were to die today, where would you go? If I could show you that you can have eternal life and KNOW that you have it, would you accept it today?" 1 John 5:13 tells us "...you who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) the name of the Son of God [in the peculiar services and blessings conferred by Him on men], so that you may know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that you [already] have life, yes, eternal life."
Eternal life is ours if only we choose to take a step of faith and believe in Jesus.
- Romans 3:10 "As it is written, None is righteous, just and truthful and upright and conscientious, no, not one."
- Romans 3:23 "Since all have sinned and are falling short of the honor and glory which God bestows and receives."
These two Scriptures reveal that none of us are perfect. Each of us are born into sin. We remain sinners until we are forgiven and received into the Kingdom of God.
- Romans 5:12 "Therefore, as sin came into the world through one man, and death as the result of sin, so death spread to all men, [no one being able to stop it or to escape its power] because all men sinned."
Adam is well known for being the first man to sin.
- Romans 6:23 "For the wages which sin pays is death, but the [bountiful] free gift of God is eternal life through (in union with) Jesus Christ our Lord."
- Romans 10:9 "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
- Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved."
Pray the sinners prayer. Here is an example:
Heavenly Father,
I am a sinner. I ask your forgiveness for those sins which I have committed against you. God, I believe that Jesus is your Son.
I believe that He died on the cross to save me. I believe that He rose again three days later and is seated at Your right hand today.
I thank You for that sacrifice. Jesus, please come into my heart. Take up residence there and live within me forever.
Please change my heart and make me whole in You. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for saving me!
Amen.
Now, you KNOW, without a doubt, that you are saved! God's Word also tells us that praying the sinners prayer isn't enough. We need to read, understand and learn the Bible. We need to pray (His Word says to pray without ceasing) daily. We need to be rooted firmly in a Church. We need to fellowship with like believers and tell others about Jesus.
Our relationship with God is the most important thing to Him. Shouldn't it be the most important thing to us, too?
