Sky Angel Developing Christian Music Channel with Spirit Communications - 4 Dec 2003
|
...If one of your Christmas wishes has been for a music video channel that features artists like Michael W. Smith, Jars of Clay, and Mercy Me, your gift won't be arriving in time to be under the tree this year -- but Sky Angel says such a channel is in the works and will be launched sometime next year. Sky Angel, a nationwide, direct-to-home Christian television service says the channel, as yet unnamed, is being developed by Ohio-based Spirit Communications and will feature contemporary Christian music programming. The home satellite TV service previously carried Praise TV, which carried similar programming, but Praise TV ceased operation in October. Sky Angel's Kathleen Johnson says demand as been high for a replacement since Praise TV went off the air, and that Spirit Communications has both the desire and creativity to put together a "quality channel." John Owens, who will be program director for the new channel, says the programming will be "something fresh that won't be too hard or too soft, but a great mix of music videos." Spirit Communications already has two 24/7 channels on Sky Angel -- TVU Music Television and The RadioU Network -- that feature a Christian music format targeting college and high-school aged listeners. |
