...A military analyst says President Bush's surprise visit to American troops in Iraq on Thanksgiving Day will be a big boost for both him and the war on terror. Retired Colonel Bob Maginnis says while the president's surprise visit to Baghdad was a security nightmare, it was also a beneficial act. "It was certainly a political coup," the military expert says, "and it was certainly very encouraging for the soldiers who were there to have their Commander in Chief come at a very key time -- at Thanksgiving time, when soldiers tend to think of family and so forth and miss being at home." Maginnis says it was also the ultimate "in-your-face" message that could be delivered to those opposing the liberation of Iraq. |
