Christian Missionary in Middle East Says Progress Often Slow - 2 Dec 2003

...A Christian missionary assigned to one of the most dangerous areas of the world says progress in spreading the gospel must often be measured a few people at a time. "Mike," who cannot reveal his real name or the mission agency that has sent him to the Middle East, says progress there is often slow. "If in a two-year term that I'm out, if I can see two folks come to know the Lord and disciple those guys -- and then sort of 'shadow pastor' them -- then I think we're doing pretty good," he says. But Mike says in some areas, there has been remarkable success. "There's a team of guys that we're working with who have been very successful in one of the North African countries that has seen about 9,000 folks come to know the Lord," he says. The missionary says evangelism in the Middle East depends on local Christians who start cell groups which lead to still more cell groups.
