Black Author Says Blacks in America Need to Trun Away from Self-Appointed Liberal Black Leaders - 18 Nov 2003

...A conservative black author and activist hopes his new book will pound home the point that blacks in the U.S. need to turn away from the self-appointed liberal black leaders who have done so much damage to their communities. Jesse Lee Peterson is founder and president of the Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (bondinfo.org). He has just released Scam: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America (WND Books, 2003) -- a book Peterson says both blacks and whites need to read. The author says it is time American blacks stopped listening to people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Maxine Waters, and reexamined what they are actually promoting. Among the spurious, so-called leaders, the outspoken activist includes many civil rights movement leaders, the NAACP, "most of the black preachers," and "the liberal white racist elite Democratic Party." According to BOND's spokesman, "Whatever [such self-appointed leaders] tell black people, they fall for it without even thinking about it." He recommends that white Americans get over their false guilt, and that black Americans start to become the leaders of their own lives instead of following the questionable leadership of these liberals. In Scam, Peterson offers solutions for the problems of the black community that stress character, the building of strong family units, and the return of black churches to their original spiritual purpose. Peterson says his aim is the unity of all races based on truth, rather than their continued division based on lies. [Chad Groening]
